On flattening a warped board

A damp blotter and two days under even weight will often do more than a press. If the warp returns, the board was already tired; replace it rather than fight it.

Unbleached 18/3 linen for most octavos. Heavier volumes take 16/3. Wax sparingly; too much wax makes a lumpy kettle stitch.
